Land Use and Land Cover Change Detection in the Bhavani Basin of India through Remote Sensing Approach

Using remote sensing data to detect changes in land use and cover (LULC) is a valuable source of information for various decision support systems. Land identification was used analyse conservation, sustainable development, water resource management. This research aims determine how the Bhavani basin have changed over period time. were detected using Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) 30 m resolution images GIS environment with image processing techniques four years 1999, 2007, 2014, 2020. The differences landuse classes are described ERDAS imagine version 2015 ARC software. viz. body, built-up land, barren vegetation classify region. accuracy evaluation assessed separately kappa coefficient after carefully examining pre-processing classification. overall found be 83.23%, 86.45%, 85.83%, 88.75 % 0.79, 0.81, 0.87, 0.85 2020 respectively. mostly covered by vegetation. According findings, basin's area has risen 1.5 percentage 3.5 last 20 years. increase reduction may lead low soil erosion.
